Will Maxey
Partner
Will Maxey is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on personal injury and wrongful death cases. An Horry County native and lifelong South Carolinian, Will graduated from Clemson University with a B.A. in English Literature and earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, Will knew that he wanted to represent injured people against insurance companies and corporations, and he served as the president of the student chapter of the South Carolina Association for Justice, an organization of plaintiff’s attorneys in South Carolina dedicated to defending individuals’ rights to a civil trial by jury and to ensuring fairness in our state’s civil justice system. Will remains a proud member of SCAJ and currently serves as a member of its Board of Governors.
Upon graduating law school and being admitted to the South Carolina Bar, Will served as an assistant solicitor, where he tried multiple jury trials to verdict and handled cases ranging from driving under the influence to drug trafficking. After serving as a prosecutor, Will began putting his skills to work on behalf of injured people in personal injury cases. During that time, Will worked at both large and small personal injury law firms, and brings the best of both worlds to Maxey McFarland Law Firm: the knowledge and skill to compete with any large firm and the individualized client service of a small firm.
Will lives in Greenville with his wife and remains a proud Pee Dee native, despite having made his home in the Upstate. He is a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves, his beloved Clemson Tigers, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. When he’s not practicing law, you can more than likely find him on the golf course or at a sporting event.

Elizabeth McFarland

Elizabeth McFarland is an experienced litigator who concentrates her practice on personal injury and wrongful death cases. With her broad skill set and comprehensive experience in both state and federal courts, Elizabeth is well-equipped to achieve favorable outcomes for her clients.
Prior to founding Maxey McFarland Law Firm with her partner, Will Maxey, Elizabeth practiced at a local personal injury firm and handled many different types of cases through all phases of litigation. Her experience extends beyond personal injury law, having also spent over two years with a Spartanburg firm that focused on design and construction law, professional negligence, and 42 U.S.C. § 1983 claims against law enforcement and other state actors.
Elizabeth also spent over 5 years as an Assistant Solicitor in the 7th Judicial Circuit in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she prosecuted a wide variety of criminal offenses, including property and financial crimes. In addition to her criminal docket, Elizabeth handled the civil asset forfeiture cases for Spartanburg and Cherokee County. During her time as a prosecutor, Elizabeth tried multiple cases to verdict, had many contested hearings, and gained invaluable courtroom experience.
Elizabeth is a two-time graduate of the University of South Carolina and remains a Gamecock fan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2011 and her Juris Doctorate from the Law School in 2014, both with honors. During law school, Elizabeth worked as a research assistant to Professor William Quirk and served as a peer mentor.
Elizabeth lives in Greenville with her husband, Ben, and children, Harrison and Walker. When she’s not working, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, and playing tennis. Elizabeth played Varsity Division I Tennis at Appalachian State University until transferring to the University of South Carolina where she played Club Tennis and met her husband, Ben, who also plays. Currently she is an avid participant in USTA league tennis as a player and team captain.
